1. Download third-party jabber client, Miranda IM. (www.miranda-im.com/download). Version 0.6.3 ist tested and suggested.

2. During installation, deselect all Miranda IM Protocols except Jabber. This will make it easier to configure.

3. Launch Miranda IM and click on the logo at the top of the window and select Options.

4. Navigate to Network > Jabber.

5. Enter Username (if JID = bob@jabber.deltamind.de, insert bob). Means it is exactly the username you have created previously in your DotNetNuke portal. Important: On chat server side, all usernames are lowercase - and must be typed in lowercase in Miranda. Of course the user must exist on GroupChat Server, so the RoleProvider must be properly configured.

6. Enter Password, Resource is not important (take e.g. 'work').

7. Ensure that Port is 5222, no SSL/TLS

8. Click Apply

9. Click on the lighbulb at the bottom of the contact list and select Online.
